Home Structure as Predictor of Adolescents’ Autonomy Development in the Assin South District, Ghana by*Anthony Edward Boakye PhD Candidate in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences

Home Structure as Predictor of Adolescents’ Autonomy Development in the Assin South District, Ghana  by Anthony Edward Boakye PhD Candidate in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract  : Background: Too many rules or too forceful implementation of these rules, as well as too many consequences for not following the rules, can make adolescents feel that they are being oppressed rather than supported. This study investigates the home structure and adolescents’ autonomy development in the Assin South District, Ghana.  Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive design was used with 400 participants which comprised parents age 30-59 and older adolescents age 15-19 years. Data were analysed using frequency distribution, Pearson’s chi-squared test of independence and binary logistic regression.   Results: Association was found between parents knowing their child’s whereabout at p=0.034, (x²=4.493). Parents’ consistency in rules enforc...

Benign Metastasizing Leiomyoma Associated With Lung Metastases : A Case Report by Donia Dhib, Medical Oncology department in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences

Benign Metastasizing Leiomyoma Associated With Lung Metastases : A Case Report by Donia Dhib, Medical Oncology department in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract: Benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML) is a rare clinical entity observed in women of reproductive or premenopausal age with a history of uterine myomectomy or hysterectomy characterized by the presence of benign uterine leiomyomas that metastasize to extrauterine sites, most commonly to the lung. This literature case review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of BML, including its pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, management, and areas of ongoing research. Introduction: Benign metastasizing leiomyoma is a rare condition that challenges the traditional understanding of uterine leiomyomas. This condition has been documented in women with a history of uterine leiomyomas, with the metastatic nodules appearing predominantly in the lungs. The ...

Central Nervous System Melanomatosis Arising In Braf V600e Mutated Neurocutaneous Melanosis: A Case Report by Barbara Valeri by Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences

Central Nervous System Melanomatosis Arising In Braf V600e Mutated Neurocutaneous Melanosis: A Case Report by Barbara Valeri in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract: Neurocutaneous melanosis (NCM) is a rare congenital syndrome defined by the combination of large or giant congenital melanocytic nevi and leptomeningeal melanocytic proliferation. NCM harbors per se an increased risk, as high as 12%, of malignant transformation to melanoma, arising in the context of either the congenital nevi or the central nervous system. The vast majority (75%) of NCM is a result of somatic mosaicism due to a single postzygotic mutation involving NRAS codon 61, which can be found both in skin and central nervous system localizations. BRAF V600E mutation is present only in a minority of patients with NCM (~12.5%). Here we report the rare case of a BRAF V600E mutated NCM complicated by central nervous system melanomatosis, defined as a diffuse or multifocal meninge...

Interest and safety of a preservative-free carbomer 0.2% eye gel on canine dry eye: a case series by *Christelle Navarro, MP Labo in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences

Interest and safety of a preservative-free carbomer 0.2% eye gel on canine dry eye: a case series by Christelle Navarro, MP Labo in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract: Dry eye is a common ophthalmic disorder in dogs that can lead to serious ocular complications. The objective of this case series was to evaluate a new preservative-free carbomer 0.2% eye gel in five dogs with dry eyes. Ophthalmic examination was performed on D0, D15, and D30, rating conjunctivitis, keratitis, ocular discharge and irritation from 0 to 3. Global ocular clinical (GOC) score was obtained by the sum of the individual scores. Tear film quantity and quality were measured using Schirmer Tear test (STT1) and tear film break-up time (TBUT). The dogs’ quality of life (QoL) was assessed by the owners. GOC, conjunctivitis, and ocular discharge scores decreased significantly on D15 and D30 compared to D0 (p = 0.0062, 0.0152, and 0.0152, respectively on D30). QoL significantl...

A Case of Gastrointestinal Bleed due to Angiodysplasia in Primary Care treated with Thalidomide by Samar Zaki in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences

A Case of Gastrointestinal Bleed due to Angiodysplasia in Primary Care treated with Thalidomide by Samar Zaki in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract: Angiodysplasia is an important and frequent cause of long-term intermittent gastrointestinal (GI) bleed in elderly patients. Gastrointestinal angiodysplasia (GIAD) is one of the most common cause in the elderly, while tumors dominate in younger individuals (below 50 years of age). GIAD can present as hematochezia, malena or as iron deficiency anemia with intermittently positive occult blood in stools. Several methods have been invented and tried with no desired outcomes. Recurrent symptoms and requirement for blood transfusions despite endoscopic therapy necessitate the evaluation for a pharmacological intervention. Medical management in the past comprised of hormonal therapy and octreotide. The use of thalidomide for recurrent GIAD is not common thus in our case study we describe the use of th...

Benign Synchronous Parotid Tumors: Case Report and Literature Review by Juan Jose Santivañez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences

Benign Synchronous Parotid Tumors: Case Report and Literature Review by Juan Jose Santivañez in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences Abstract : The parotid gland, one of the three major salivary glands in the body, can host both benign and malignant tumors. The overall incidence of salivary gland tumors is less than 5 per 100,000 population per year, representing 3-4% of all head and neck tumors, 80% of which are located in the parotid gland. The occurrence of benign synchronous parotid neoplasms is considered unusual, particularly those involving histologically distinct types, which are exceptionally rare, accounting for only 0.3% of all tumors. To date, nine cases have been reported of synchronous Warthin’s tumor and oncocytomas. The similarities between these tumors make them indistinguishable using clinical or standard imaging techniques. In this report, we present a case of synchronous Warthin's tumor and oncocytoma identified as a postoperati...

Painful osteitis fibrosa cystica associated with parathyroid adenoma by *Juan Jose Santivañez, MD, General surgeon in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences

Painful osteitis fibrosa cystica associated with parathyroid adenoma by Juan Jose Santivañez, MD, General surgeon in Journal of Clinical Case Reports, Medical Images and Health Sciences  Abstract: Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is a common endocrine disorder characterized by hypercalcemia and elevated or abnormally normal parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels, resulting from the excessive secretion of PTH by one or more parathyroid glands. In this report, we emphasize the significance of a proper approach when dealing with bone lesions. Our patient experienced a 4-month history of incapacitating pain in her right hip, leading to serious difficulty in walking. An MRI revealed multiple bone lesions, initially raising suspicion of plasma cell neoplasia. A comprehensive evaluation of the phosphocalcic panel is always essential to rule out conditions like primary hyperparathyroidism as the underlying cause of the lesions, as seen in this case. Once hyperparathyroidism is diagnosed, im...
